Wax melt care card

Wax melts are small, scented pieces of wax, in various shapes, sizes and colour that melt in a wax warmer to deliver fragrance to a room. Most of the fragrances hand poured here at Divine Candles are available in melts and candles, but some of our fragrances are available in wax melts ...for now!

  • Do not add water to hot wax as it can be dangerous. Do not move an melter while in use.

  • Hot wax can cause burns to the skin so be very careful.

  • Place your melter out of reach of children and pets.

  • Ensure your melter is not placed near drafts but in a well ventilated area.

  • Extinguish the tea light of your melter before you go to sleep.

  • Remove any plastic packaging from wax melts before use.

  • If using a small wax melter -only use one wax melt at a time. For larger burners you can use two.

  • Wax melts are for external use only. Ensure wax melts are stored in a safe place away from children as they may smell or look like sweet and the should not be eaten. If eaten seek emergency medical attention immediately.

  • Some of our wax melts contain colouring, so avoid contact with fabrics as melted wax may cause staining.

  • Take care extinguishing your tea lights.

  • Do not pour melted wax into drain.

Wax Melt Safety Guide – Electric Melt Burner

The following guidelines are to help you get the very best from your Electric Melt Burners. These wax melt burners are great for anyone with children, pets or are worried about falling asleep and leaving candles alight.

  • Place wax melt in the melting dish supplied with your Electric Melt Burner.

  • Do not add water.

  • Plug in then switch on your electric melt burner and allow the wax to melt, releasing fragrance throughout your room.

  • To change fragrances, switch off the electric melt burner and allow all the wax to cool and harden. Once the wax melt has hardened, remove it using gentle pressure. A great way of removing wax quickly and safely is to pop your melting dish in the freezer for just a few minutes and the wax should contract and come straight out.

  • Check your melting dish is not cracked or chipped.

  • Do not use your melter for no longer than 3 hours.

Wax Melt Safety Guide – How to discard your wax!

  • You can either light a tea light and after a few seconds it will warm the bottom of the wax enough to push out of the oil bowl and then wipe clean or put your melting dish in the freezer for 10-15 mins and then the wax will easily pop out.

  • Take care not to damage the glass or ceramic and avoid the use of  metal or sharp objects.

  • If using the freezer or fridge method to remove wax – remember to allow your burner to return to room temperature before using again – or it may crack from the heat of the tea light.

  • Do not rinse wax away in your sink, warm the dish and wipe with paper if required after using one of the methods above.
